Chicken of the Trees

I wrote this headline for food critic Mike Sula’s cover story about hunting and eating city squirrels. Sula’s story became the winner of the 2013 MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award from the James Beard Foundation.

Ladies of the Fight

Up against the clock of a drop-dead print deadline, I was called in at the last minute to title this piece about a rowdy and theatrical event featuring the Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers.
